# Cosmos Analyst

> Use the Cosmos Analyst Expert to learn how Cosmos has impacted your engineering team using GitHub PR / GitLab MR activity and cost data.

## Cosmos Analyst

Cosmos Analyst produces a **Cosmos-adoption engineering-ROI report**: how Cosmos changed an engineering team's output, paired with what Cosmos cost. It fetches merged-change activity from your GitHub (PRs) or GitLab (MRs), computes a fixed set of throughput and quality metrics — changes per engineer, complexity-weighted output, cycle time, revert rate, and lines of code — and sets them against Cosmos spend over the same window. The analyst is read-only by discipline — it never posts or approves.

* **Best for**: Engineering managers and leaders who want to understand and communicate the impact and cost of Cosmos adoption across one or more repositories.
* **How to use**: Point the Expert at a cloud [environment](/cosmos/environments/overview) and connect GitHub or GitLab. Start a session, then tell it the repositories or projects, the team or engineers, roughly when Cosmos adoption started (optional), and the data window. It asks any remaining questions, then runs the report end-to-end.
