About Augment for Slack
Augment for Slack brings the power of Augment Chat to your team’s Slack workspace. Mention @Augment in any channel or start a DM with Augment to have deep codebase-aware conversations with your team. Before you can use Augment for Slack, you will need to install the Augment Slack App.
Adding Augment to a channel
To add @Augment to a channel, simply mention @Augment in that channel. You can add Augment to any public or private channel. Augment will not reply in channels with external members to protect your confidential information.
Starting a conversation with Augment
You can start a conversation with Augment by mentioning @Augment in your message. You can also add Augment to an existing thread by mentioning Augment in the thread. You can mention Augment in any part of your message, you do not need to start your message with @Augment. You can remove a message from Augment by adding the ❌ reaction to the message.
Direct messaging Augment
Using Augment in group channels helps others learn and understand more about your codebase, though sometimes you may want to have a private conversation with Augment. You can find Augment under Apps in the Slack sidebar or you can press Cmd/Ctrl T and search for @Augment to start your one-on-one conversation.
Context in Slack
Augment will use the default branch in GitHub of the repositories you have linked to your Slack workspace–typically main
branch. Currently, Augment does not have access to other branches within the repositories.
