Open cosmos.augmentcode.com > New session > Select Cosmos Advisor > Edit and submit this prompt:
Create 2 custom experts: hello1 and hello2. Those 2 experts should be sharing in common in their definition an include cosmos file that will contain a given firstname (ex: "nico"). When prompted, hello1 expert should reply hello1 + <firstname-value-from-the-include-cosmos-file>. When prompted, hello2 expert should reply hello2 + <firstname-value-from-the-include-cosmos-file>
The session will confirm when the experts are created:
Created hello1 and hello2.Both reference the same shared Cosmos file. nico is defined there only, and not hard-coded in either prompt. Saved definitions and include rendering verified.Try hello1Try hello2Any additional rules or skills to add? For skills, share the exact file location.
Open the hello1 expert definition > System Prompt, you should see:Note that the hello1 expert has its own system prompt with hello1 specific instructions, and also includes a “Shared Firstname” vfs:// file where the value of firstname is stored.
VFS stands for Virtual File System, that’s what powers Cosmos Files
Open the hello2 expert definition > System Prompt, you should see:Like the hello1 expert, hello2 has its own system prompt with hello2 specific instructions, and includes the same “Shared Firstname” vfs:// file where the value of firstname is stored. In the example above, the include url of the file is vfs://org/experts/hello/shared-firstname.md, which should be read as:
The file resides in the org VFS
The file is tied to experts, corresponding path: /experts/hello/
Filename: shared-firstname.md
Open shared-firstname.md: cosmos.augmentcode.com > Files > Select Organization > experts > hello > Click on shared-firstname.mdYou can manually edit this file and change its content, however it’s recommended to use Cosmos Advisor to verify and apply given sets of instructions.Congratulations, you’ve created your first custom experts sharing some centralized instructions! 🎉
As you’ve deployed your software factory (see 101 - Getting Started On Cosmos), you’ll be able to apply a similar approach to share instructions across your code producing experts. Make sure you specifically ask Cosmos Advisor to centralize given instructions and share them across given experts. If you have existing skills that you used pre-Cosmos that you’d like to bring over, attaching them to a session with Cosmos Advisor and asking Advisor its suggestion on how to bring them over is a good starting point. Your skills may be brought over as-is, or they may be simplified before they are brought over.Keep in mind that the Augment Context Engine automatically and continuously makes sense of your codebase, so you don’t need to craft nor maintain skills for that. Cosmos Memory Manager automatically remember the human feedback on PRs so you don’t have to.For your custom instructions and skills, focus on context that’s not already in your codebase, and Cosmos Advisor will suggest how and where to put this context - this could be at the expert level, or as a Cosmos file included onto that expert.
